Paletti history

  • During the construction phase of the Stubach valley power station in the 1930s, the Haus Grünsee was built as a home for the foreman. After completion of the power station, the house was passed on to two owners and was run by the Vötter family as a guest house / self-catering cabin for the first time.
  • Franz Wagner was born in Vienna and emigrated to Sweden. In 2002 he returned to Austria and acquired the "Haus Grünsee" on the Enzingerboden, which was still a self-catering cabin at that time.
  • He initially continued to run it as a self-catering cabin.
  • In 2007 the property was renamed the "Bergbeisl" guest house and the first phase of renovation and reconstruction began. This resulted in a new building with a staircase and 5 guest bedrooms. The two verandas were then expanded to become "ice cave 1 and 2".
  • During the second building phase in 2009, and under the leadership of the architect Klara Wagner, the breakthrough was made into the current guest room with its full wood appearance; this resulted in the loss of 2 guest rooms. A small and cosy mountain chalet for up to 6 people was also built directly behind the property. The "Bergbeisl" was renamed "Alpengasthof Paletti".
  • In 2011 the bar and 6 new guest rooms were added. The constant adaptations since have been implemented with a lot of commitment and love of detail to create the cosy charm of an Austrian mountain chalet.
  • Acquisition of 4 holiday apartments (200 m from the guest house) each able to accommodate 6-9 people and fully equipped with kitchen and cosy wood stove.
  • In 2015 the mountain restaurant on the Grünsee will be added (at the middle station of the Weißsee glacier world). It will be open in winter during the opening hours of the mountain railway and in July and August 2015.
  • Franz Wagner is retiring and will hand over management to Nicole Christoph-Käfer who, following a brief interlude in Croatia, worked as the Director of the Berghotel Rudolfshuette.
  • We aim to improve continually the quality of the accommodation for our guests and to both maintain and increase the quality of the food we offer. There will also be further construction under the new leadership of Nicole Christoph-Käfer.
